Glossary

Here are some of the terms and abbreviations you’ll find in the integration guides:

3DS (3D Secure): EMV authentication protocol for online card payments.
ACS (Access Control Server): Access control server that carries out secure cardholder authentication.
AP (Addon Payments): Comercia PSP.
APM (Alternative Payment Method): Payment method other than card, such as: Bizum, Paypal, Quix, etc.
ASC (Addon Sales Conversion): CGP risk analysis and exemptions service.
AVS (Address Verification Service): Anti fraud method that compares the shipping address against the cardholder’s address.
CIT (Customer Initiated Transaction): Transaction initiated by the consumer.
COF (Credential On File): Transaction in which AP generates or your ecommerce platform sends a token for the customer’s card.
CGP: Comercia Global Payments.
CVC (Card Verification Code): Code on the card for verification. Also known as CVV (Card Verification Value), CVN (Card Verification Number) and Card ID.
ECI (Electronic Commerce Indicator): ID for the result of an authentication.
EEA: Countries belonging to the European Economic Area.
EMV (Europay MascerCard Visa): Interoperability standard for authenticating payments using credit and debit cards.
EMVCo: Entity that established and administrates the EMV standards.
H2H (Host to Host): Integration in which the ecommerce platform sends requests to the payment gateway with the details needed to carry out the transaction.
MIT (Merchant Initiated Transaction): Transaction initiated by the merchant.
MO/TO (Mail Order / Telephone Order): Remote payments in which the merchant receives the customer’s card details by phone or email.
OTB (Open To Buy): Operation in which a transaction for zero (0) is sent to check whether the card is operational for payments.
PAN (Personal Account Number): Number of the credit or debit card.
PSD2 (Payment Services Directive): Second European directive on online payment services.
PSP (Payment Services Provider): Company that provides payment services.
SCA: Strong customer authentication. This authentication method requires confirmation from the cardholder.
TRA (Transaction Risk Analysis): Analysis of the risk involved in the transaction.
Challenge: Process that requires additional verification of the cardholder to ensure the security of the transaction (entering a security code, biometric verification, etc.).
Frictionless: Payment experience that allows a secure transaction with minimal user intervention (no additional steps such as verification).
